Frequent Questions

Have you ever had a question and didn’t know where to find the answer? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

This section is a compilation of answers to the questions most commonly asked by our constituents. Just start by following one of the links below. If you can’t find the question you wanted to ask, don’t hesitate to contact us.

  1. What kind of organization is UPNAAI?

UPNAAI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. A 501(c)(3) organization is a charitable, tax‑exempt entity established for purposes such as education, community service, and public benefit. Because UPNAAI meets these federal requirements, it is exempt from federal income tax and is allowed to receive tax‑deductible donations.

What this means for members and donors:

    * Your donations may be tax‑deductible.
Contributions to UPNAAI generally qualify as charitable deductions on U.S. federal income tax returns, which can reduce a donor’s taxable income.

    * UPNAAI must use all funds for its mission.
As a 501(c)(3), the organization is legally required to use its resources solely for charitable, educational, and community‑oriented purposes—not for the personal benefit of any member or officer.

    * UPNAAI must follow strict transparency and reporting rules.
This includes filing annual IRS reports and maintaining clear financial records to ensure accountability.

    * No part of the organization’s earnings can benefit private individuals.
This protects the integrity of the association and ensures that all funds support programs, scholarships, community service, and member development. All of UPNAAI's officers, board of directors, and advisers are volunteers who do not receive any compensation or profit of any kind.
