OBJECTIVES. This association is established to bind all UP nursing alumni in the East Coast into an organization that will a). Organize activities that will give opportunities for nurses to pursue and advance professional growth b). Support programs that will benefit the UP College of Nursing, other Filipinos and the community at large.

History

The UP Nurses of the East Coast (UPN-EC) was established in 2008 as a chapter of the UP Nursing Alumni Association International, Inc (UPNAAI). The mission of this organization is to “bring together UP alumni nurses in the spirit of camaraderie for the purpose of personal and professional development to support the Alma Mater and the Filipino community at large.” The vision is that “Members of the UPN-EC will attain a realization of one’s duty to respond to the needs of the Alma Mater, Filipino constituency, the Nursing profession and the American and global community.”

We have the annual Spring Fling in May to begin our activities of the year. This is where we meet the general membership and give them the state of the Chapter. We hold the biannual election of the Board of Directors on the even years.

We have been participating in activities in collaboration with the Philippine Consulate of New York. In June, we march with other UP and Filipino organizations. Another activity that the Consulate initiated was the Homecoming sa Konsulado where UPN-EC was one of the organizations at its inception. Here we meet with other alumni organizations for networking among others. Come December we participate in the Simbang Gabi sa Konsulado.

UPN-EC has established the Evelyn Sulibit-Alcontin Memorial scholarship in 2019. Thus far our first scholar topped the Philippine Nursing Licensure exam. We are currently supporting a third student. We have also donated to charity as part of our mission in helping.

Join us as a member and be part of the prestige of being an UPN-EC member.
