Dr. Dolora Sanares-Carreon, 2026 J.V. Sotejo Medallion of Honor Awardee

Dolora Sanares‑Carreon, DNP, MPA, RN, NE-BC, is a distinguished nurse leader, educator, and nationally recognized champion of Evidence‑Based Practice (EBP). With more than two decades of sustained contributions to advancing EBP in both clinical and academic environments, she has become one of the field’s most influential voices—shaping practice standards, mentoring nurse leaders, and elevating the role of EBP in improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Sanares‑Carreon pioneered the development and nursing-wide implementation of a novel EBP model, Disciplined Clinical Inquiry, at a premier multi-campus academic medical center in Southeast Texas. By establishing a groundbreaking one-stop online hub, a robust EBP network, and hardwiring EBP into nursing systems, she mainstreamed a culture of clinical inquiry where every patient receives care grounded in the current best evidence.  Her expertise has earned her national and international recognition through peer‑reviewed publications, authorship in foundational EBP texts, and invited presentations at major forums such as the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and global research congresses.

Her leadership extends beyond institutional walls. She is a founding leader of the UPNAA Texas Chapter and has served in multiple professional and community roles that strengthen the visibility and impact of Filipino nurses in the United States. Her long‑standing commitment to service is further reflected in her pro bono consultancy work with the University of the Philippines–Philippine General Hospital (UP‑PGH), where she has helped shape institutional priorities, develop EBP capacity‑building programs, and support nursing leadership development.

A proud lifetime member of UPNAAI, Dr. Sanares‑Carreon exemplifies the ideals of excellence, service, and global citizenship that define the UP nursing community. She is a trailblazer whose influence continues to uplift nurses, students, and institutions across borders.

UPNAAI is honored to recognize Dr. Dolora Sanares‑Carreon as the 2026 JVSMOH Awardee for her visionary leadership, scholarly contributions, and unwavering dedication to advancing the nursing profession.
